Employment Tribunals – increases and delays due to Covid-19
Written by Kevin Murphy
The Chief Medical Officers have extended to self-isolation period for those with symptoms of Covid-19.
What has changed?
All of the UK Chief Medical Officers have extend the isolation period to 10 days. If you have symptoms of, or have been tested positive for, Covid-19 you must now isolate for 10 days, not 7. Your household must isolate with you for 14 days. Should any member of your household test positive for Covid-19 or become symptomatic they must isolate for a further 10 days.
How does this affect my business?
The immediate impact is that there could be an absence from the work force. Where employees can work from home they can still do so if they are able. Where an employee is unable they will be provided with an Isolation Note and entitled to Statutory Sick Pay from day 1 of their absence. You can reclaim 1 weeks worth of SSP from the Government in Covid-19 related circumstances.
What do I need to do?
Try to mitigate the risks of passing Covid-19 around the work place. If you have not yet completed a Coronavirus Risk Assessment
